is a old SAT review book useful for the new SAT?

Yes and no. While I’m sure the old book will be helpful, there’s a reason there’s a new book, the test keeps changing. The new review books have similar problems to the test now, while your parents books will probably have older questions. Both would be beneficial, but you will most likely relate to the new review book on the test.
