tell mostly how you relate to the charaters or plot or setting. stay away from explaining or summarizing the book, that’s not what they want. also, try to give reasons for why you think the characters did this or that.
Keep it snappy by using the 5 ws
WHO is the main character
WHERE is the book set
WHAT happens in the book
WHEN was the book set
WHY did you enjoy it/ not enjoy it
Finish with a brief opinion and marks out of 10
Since you’re limited to such a short amount of words I would focus on three pieces:
1) the basics (title, author, pages, etc.)
2) either the character development/plot/setting (only choose one)
3) your opinion/rating (even so much as a star rating if you’re really stretched for words).
believe it or not, 200 words is not all that much, maybe the size of a paragraph. so, if u read the book, it should be easy. when u think of book review, think of those summaries on the back of the book ppl write. its basically a summary. so,when u start, make it catchy with an event or something. for example, if in a book, a plane crashes with schoolboys on a deserted island, write: Jack and his friends didn’t imagine a plane crash on the way to England. They didnt imagine getting trapped on a deserted island with no food or water. They didnt imagine what the day would bring. Yet, in the morning of their flight, a small group of boys would find themselves lost and confused in the middle of nowhere, their lives changed forever. lol, is that a good enough answer?
start with an outline,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,put in the interesting parts.and a summary at the end………….
